What Is Inspiration Ranch:

Inspiration Ranch is an organization for the benefit of those who have been isolated from friends and family due to their mental illness(es) like schizophrenia.  It is founded by the inspiration of God and built on Christian values and faith.  The inspiration was given to Russell & Jenni Walker as they observed the incredible changes in the life of their love-one who had been suffering from the debilitating symptoms and effects of schizophrenia for over 20 years.  God revealed that there are many others who suffer like this and that He wants to work through us to help them.  Inspiration Ranch is a complete community where they can feel comfortable going to school, learning a trade, attending church, doing their hobbies, and so forth while they are learning how to overcome or work around their disabilities so that they can become effective in society.  At Inspiration Ranch, the mentally ill person can have a home he calls his own.  Relatives can visit without having to feel like they are the only ones who care.  The attention is on the person with the illness, not on founders or the organization itself.  Inspiration Ranch will be built by the Lord as He leads and instructs His workers.  It is for His glory and to show us His love for them.  We believe that the Holy Scriptures are the inerrant Word of God, and as it explains, Jesus is the only Son of God who became human to perfectly bear the penalty of our sins so that by following Him, we can inherit eternal life with Him as children of God.  As Christians, we recognize that no human is perfect, yet we are called to “love one another”.  Those who have become homeless or rejected due to their mental illness have been deprived of that love.  With our hearts focused on Him, we can do this simple task. 

Who Are Our Client Members:

Our members/clients are those who have a mental illness and are torn away from loved-ones due to the effects of it.  There are many different mental illnesses and many different kinds of people who have them all over the world.  Many illnesses are recognized as a chemical imbalance in the brain.  This does not necessarily mean that the person is retarded.  Neither does the illness necessarily interfere with a person’s intellect or capacity to know and understand things.  However, mental illnesses do tend to interfere with a person’s ability to function in society by overpopulating his/her thoughts and conscience.  This can cause him or her to feel uncomfortable around other people, rejected, fearful or depressed.  We all have these feelings from time to time, but those with a mental illness can feel all these symptoms daily or even all day every day and have no hope of escape.  Thus he/she can’t easily hold a job, relate to family or friends, control financial responsibilities, and often resorts to substance abuse, homelessness, incarceration or institutions, which isolates him/her from social responsibilities.  Inspiration Ranch recognizes that there is hope, and that he/she who has a mental illness can learn ways to control it rather than having it control him/her.  Our client members are not required to achieve a certain list of expectations; although they shall work on personal goals.  Our main objective is that they will find love, peace and acceptance from others in spite of their condition, and this is pleasing to God.

Who Are Our Crew Members:

Our volunteers and crew members are people like you!  Perhaps you are a business owner, a doctor or nurse, a police officer, a farmer, a student, a teacher, a person with a mentally ill loved one, or someone who has a mental illness.  More importantly, you are a compassionate individual who can see that there is a serious need to help those who are mentally ill.  Because we are a non-profit organization, we seek first to obtain assistance from people like you who really care rather than becoming controlled by the government.  We believe that the general public sincerely wants to help the needy but just lacks opportunity or convenience.  Also, the government has tried to help the mentally ill, but it lacks compassion, which we believe is the key ingredient to the solution.  By volunteering your time and services at Inspiration Ranch, you are partnering in a very special and critical ministry.  We do not require any one to be or become a Christian.  However, we do require everyone to honor our Christian values while representing us.  What you do here may be challenging in different ways, but it will always be rewarding.
